Print
To make this piece we first had to search through magazines to find an image that displayed texture. I chose a parrot because the feathers and the tree add great texture that I could put into my art. Once we found our image we had to draw it out on a normal sheet of paper to get an idea of what we would be carving into our block. We shrunk down this drawing to the size of our carving block, then drew the shrunken image on our blocks using sharpie. This gave us guidelines for where to cut once we started making the actual print. We used sharp cutting tools to cut into the block along the drawn lines making the cuts a variety of thickness and length to give it the texture we desired. Then we rolled different colored ink onto the blocks and pressed them onto the different mediums we were printing on. This made it so we could mass produce the same image in multiple colors and on different mediums.
